HAMILTON CITY, Calif. – The Hamilton City Volunteer Fire Department is going through a change of command and now volunteer firefighters might walk out.
A new interim chief was appointed on Monday for the Hamilton City Fire Department and the decision has left some volunteers upset with the change.
“I’m here for the community, I’ve been here for a while don’t want to walk out but if there’s no changes then I might have to do it,” volunteer firefighter Mario Medrano said. “I don’t want to but if it comes to that point I might have to do it.”
The Hamilton City Fire Protection District Board approved a proposal on Monday, where Chief Hank Irick would officially retire as chief, but still be a part of the department.
